Sum&Substance //Proto-Ur-Uber_Veil\\

I’m going over some music while I work on other things. There may be a Veil Of Thorns EP in February, an album to follow in the spring, and, should a drummer and bass player somehow show up, some festival appearances. I’m opening up the idea, not promising. The tour aspect, that is. The musick will be forthcoming.

Some things that’ll be going off in various directions at once. Listen in on the process. Some instrumental bits and pieces that could be showing up in odd places:

a jazzish phonkish thang wit git-fiddles

this be a bit of lassitudinous forboding

There’s this bit’o’rock steady clean tone thing as well…

Oh, yeah, and this as a general offering… I’m listening myself as I hum the four part harmony by folding the vocal chords over…

Moving along through the Barrens…

Some ground has been laid for you,

but it’ll be just a little bit longer before I let you in.

Black shirts to come, new designs, art in process, new disasters for the cleansing…

You have no idea!

Slowly, and with deliberation we proceed,

Plant the seed

Commit the deed,

prettypretty things will bleed…

Spread the word please, sending people to http://www.mickmercer.com/themick.html and thank you in advance.

As I think Of My Own Jazzy-Cat (R.I.P.) He Done Done It Again!

Coming from less generous types, this amount of material and brilliance would be a book, and damned expensive to boot. You must’ve been nice, for it’s given for free, though you can feel free to reward our Mick with some of the spoils of your dirty dealings this year.

Choronzon brings up the rear in the top records of the year with “Panic Pandemic”. Maybe Veil Of Thorns will see a re-emergence in 2006. I can promise nothing…

Love It!

THE MICK 22

You know I like to bring you the best that is out there with THE MICK? Well, PREPARE TO LEARN ABOUT A LOST GOTH CLASSIC! After twenty-something years The Siiiiiii tapes have surfaced like the world’s naughtiest submarine, and there could be a CD (or two) in the offing. Obviously you won’t have heard them, but let me assure you this represents something truly amazing. They were active during that original period but never even managed to release a single and, as with all the best bands back then, they were not like the other bands. Even saying cross Zero Le Creche with Ritual doesn’t explain it. Exclusive details can be found in this issue, along with…

1919 – on the comeback trail with a resounding success of a debut.

ABIGAIL’S MERCY – Goth Metal with plenty of edifying qualities.

ALBIREON – and their dark ethereal majesty.

DHM – the men behind the grandest post-punk album of the year.

FLIPRON – a detailed look at that dementedly brilliant debut album.

SIMON HOBART (R.I.P.) – a tribute by Kitkat DJ Thor.

MONICA’S LAST PRAYER – a wake for that dementedly disappeared last album.

THE GUESTS – Russian Goth you can all thrill and whirl to.

SAMMY CAT (R.I.P.) – a pictoral tribute through the years.

Siiiiiii – Paul Devine on them, The Niceville Tampa and Deep Valley Orgasm. (A piece to make you wriggle with excitement.)

THE TUNNEL OF LOVE – more creepy splendour from Jeff Wagner’s tortured attic of a mind.

Plus loads of cool pics and my top records of the year.

THE MICK 23 ~ the special Christmas issue ~ goes up tomorrow night.

Download, devour, dream of glory.

Hesperus Dimension

I’m just passing this on for the irrepressable Nahald. They asked nicely, and I’m happy enough to help. With the involvement of Hr.Eithun and Raaf, it raises an incipient curiosity. A review will be coming in a bit:

HESPERUS DIMENSION need your attention!!! Thanks for support and any kind of help. Check HESPERUS DIMENSION at the following address!!! Please spread this message around. Thanks in advance!!!

More sounds, less info, Whatami…. smultring….

Soon there’ll be more news than you ever wanted to hear.

Veil Of Thorns has been pushed back into 2006, but it’s sounding prettypretty…

Let me at least drop some musick on you to accompany the season.

Choronzon – Tracks from Magog Agog and Era Vulgaris @ Archive.org

You can stream three of the ten files there to find out if it may appeal before going through the download. Betwwen that and what we’ve made available at Darkcell you’ll have most of Magog Agog and a taste of Era Vulgaris.

I must also highly recommend the Damnatus soundtrack, which includes Choronzon, Hexentanz, Green Carnation, Dargaard, Summoning and many other excellent artists.

Damnatus Soundtrack

I’m up to my neck at the moment, but some who know the more esoteric avenues I have been exploring for the last twenty years will see in a most startling way how what I’m working on now ties in with the whole.

Yes, I continue to be evasive and obscure…

In the meanwhile, you can listen to a couple of things that will put you in the correct state of mind to recieve the weirdness:

Radio Alchemy MP3

and

the Halloween 2004 Gagliarchives showwith an interview with Joseph Matheny and a ton of excellent prog, including Goblin, King Crimson, HAppy The Man and much more. It’s well worth it for either the music or the chaos theory, parallel universes and conspiracy theories.

Don’t let anyone tell ya I never gave you anything….

I have most wantonly and boldfacedly ripped this off from Gpod Radio, a place I think those few of you reading this who haven’t checked it out should.

Now.
